Ah, thank you. I found an awesome battery for the Game Boy Advance SP. I’ve been using it in my IPS modded kit along with the Everdrive Mini. I haven’t timed out how long I actually get on a charge but it’s at least a handful of 45 minute to an hour gaming sessions. More than enough for my play style.
Currently the battery charge light on my game boy advance is erratic to say the least. I've had it turn red to indicate low battery within one hour of a charge. I thought my gameboy's battery was simply dying but I've since replaced it and I'm still having trouble with the indicator light. Basically it just decides to turn red or green
It is normal. According to Makhos test IPS screens at max brightness can pull about 100mah, give or take. EZ flash omega can pull another 100mah, I have tested. Now this can fluctuate up and down the depending on your GBA SP model/motherboard and what features you are using in EZ Flash, RTC and RTS eat up way more battery.
With the age of the OEM batteries you can expect way more battery life with a Makho battery. Makho, I believe, has tested some of his batteries at 1100mAh or so. The 603048 cells are WAY higher capacity than stock, brand new OEM GBA SP batteries and if you can assemble one, they're the only way to go imho.

While it is an improvement, the replaced battery only runs for 2 hours and 39 minutes before the red light comes on, with the backlight off.

Back in the day a gba sp (001 and 101, doesn't matter) would have about 15 hours of battery life on a 650mAh battery. Over the course of time we got used to bigger, brighter screens with more detail but batteries didn't improve much. A new 3dsXL only has about 3.5 hours of battery life.
